Day 2: Adam and Eve

Genesis 2:4-25, NIV

So according to this, God made man before everything grew? Hm. Okay.

God had apparently planted a garden in the east, in Eden...so Eden wasn't just the garden then? And was it the only pretty place around, because in Bible stories, when Adam and Eve were cast out, I always get the visual of a dry, dusty, barren, thorny rocky place, all brown and dead and choked with weeds, compared to a green jewel of a garden.

Trees that were not only good for food but pleasing to the eye.

God said he'd make a helper suitable for the man. A helper...not a servant? And had there been a suitable one, an animal would have become his companion?

And, I've only just thought of it...men really do have one less rib, right...?

  • You know, it never ceases to amaze me that women were created from a man. God is so incredible, isn't He? We're actually, in a sense, one body with our husbands once we marry. There's such an amazingly close connection between two people. Wow!

I wonder why Adam and Eve could eat from the tree of life. Maybe because they already had life - complete life, with God, and without sin - and it wasn't like they were trying to have something that's only reserved for God.

Can you imagine the temptation, though? Especially after Satan showed.

  • Uh huh, they do. Acording to a tv show I saw anyway (not relible but hey it was on Christianity and trying to promot it). Men really do have one less rib then women, and snakes still have hip bones from when they had legs, before God took them away as punishment.
